Father in heaven,
You are good, and Your steadfast love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so. You have heard Your people in hunger, darkness, folly, distress, storms, betrayal, and fear. Teach me to cry to You quickly and to thank You sincerely when You deliver.
Give me the fear of the LORD, which is the beginning of knowledge. Keep me from the way of fools, from the counsel of sinners, and from the pride that refuses correction. When Wisdom cries aloud through Your Word, do not let me harden my heart.
Forgive me for trusting in man, for leaning on my own strength, and for seeking refuge in what cannot save. Human help is vain, but through You we shall do valiantly. Strengthen my faith in Christ, the Son of David, enthroned at Your right hand, who rules in the midst of His enemies and ever lives as Priest for His people.
Lord, teach me to praise You for Your works. Your deeds are faithful and just. Your covenant is sure. Your name is holy and awesome. Make me a person who delights in Your commandments, gives freely, deals justly, fears no evil report, and trusts steadily in You.
Defend the weak, judge wickedness, vindicate Your name, and keep me from personal vengeance. Let my hope rest in Your righteous judgment and in the kingdom of Christ.
Through Jesus Christ, our reigning King and eternal Priest, and by the help of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
