There is a war for the soul of America and souls in America.
Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

There are many religions in America but one is dominant. It comes in several denominations and sub-denominations: Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Liberal, Progressive, Libertarian, Socialist, etc., etc. Each in some way looks to Man as the highest authority and are obsessed with controlling the reins of civil government, particularly at the national level. National level government is the supreme authority, the one true god for each of these denominations.
Some denominations give lip service to another God–the Lord Jesus Christ. But it is only lip service. All see civil government as Protector, Provider, Healer, Judge, Teacher, Redeemer with some differences in what they desire from their god. Their true thoughts about civil government are seen in that there has been no downsizing of civil government in scope or power in 100 years. The worst offenders in this are so-called Conservatives and Republicans. Most are simply reactionary to the Socialist/Progressive/Liberal party: whatever SPL’s want today, Conservatives don’t want until 10-20 years from now. They may fight it vehemently today, but they will proclaim it good, wholesome, preferable, and doable compared to what SPL’s are agitating for in 20 years. Their hard core principle is simply stay a few steps behind the SPL’s. Their other main principle is the same as the SPL’s: gain control of civil government so that you can dispense its largess to your favored slaves and punish the disfavored. Then receive the fawning adulation you deserve as a demigod walking on the earth.
The SPL’s are the fundamentalists of this religion. They are the true faithful. They believe that they are on the cusp of their eschaton–where at last the redemption of Man will come. A new age will usher in that will make earth a paradise. All that is required is ever greater obeisance be given to Baal. Obeisance that requires all vestiges of the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ be overthrown and destroyed. Obeisance that requires an ever increasing rage and rejection of Christ and Christianity. They have in mind the conversion or death of all who oppose or hinder them. They will brook nothing less than this.
Is this madness? Yes. Is this evil? Yes. Will it prevail? No.
Psalm 2 is one of the most fearful and hopeful scriptures in the bible. Fearful because God laughs in scorn for those who mock, reject, and oppose Him. Fearful because He declares in His wrath that Christ reigns. Few in the church and none outside acknowledge that America has a King and He is Christ the Lord. He is not idly sitting on a vain throne pining for returning to earth. He is reigning until His enemies become his footstool.
God’s most fearsome historical judgments in the bible were never against the heathen, they were always against those who claimed to be His people but turned from Him to idolatry. The New York Times is running a series of articles called 1619 in order to decry the history of America. But they are in the vicinity of the truth on their choice of date. In 1620 a group of men covenanted with each other and God to found a country to the glory of God. This covenant is long forgotten today in America, but not by God. God upholds covenants when men forget.
Judgments based on this covenant are in operation today. Roiling madness in government officials is a judgment from God. Return of previously vanquished diseases is a judgment of God. Invasion by enemies is a judgment of God. These will continue and increase unless there is repentance.
But there is worse judgment coming. Because there is a more fundamental covenant than America’s first founding document. That covenant is the covenant of Christ and His Church. As a whole, the faith and faithfulness of the church in America is appalling. It is syncretized with the Baalism discussed above. Instead of being salt and light calling the American people and government to repentance, it burns incense to Caesar. Instead of using God’s gifts to evangelize and disciple the nation, it buries its talent. Instead of standing firm on the Word of God, it beds Jezebel with increasing abandon. This cannot and will not stand.
Who is at fault for this? Me. And you. Who is responsible to act on this? Me. And you.
